Chateau Truquet 2011 Saint Emilion
Product Code: 10098/11
A rare budget-friendly Saint-Émilion which you will love for its soft rich fruit, balance and complexity. This is an undervalued producer that is the neighbour of famed Chateau Figeac. Bronze Medal Concours des Grands Vins de France (Macon).
This beautiful estate, west of the village of Saint Emilion and in immediate proximity to 1st Growth Château Figeac, is owned by the Hebert-Maison family since 1933. That's right, wine produced from grapes on the other side of the fence would be sold for 10 times or more!
Region/Terroir: A 5 hectare vineyard of sandy and gravel topped soil with an extraordinary drainage potential. Average age of vines 30 years (Planting density : 6600 vine/ha , Average Yield : 40 hl/ha )
Grapes: Made from 80% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Sauvignon. Hand harvested
Wine making: Vinification (fermentation, maceration etc.....) in small temperature- controlled vats. Ageing : in vats. Bottled at the chateau with at total production of around 20,000 cases per year.
Our Tasting notes: A deep ruby colour accompanied with intense ripe black fruit on the nose. Full bodied wine that shows fresh pure fruit enhanced by delicate and delicious spices. Château Truquet is famous for its delicate and smooth tannins.
Food Pairing: This wine will perfectly accompany flavourful (red or white) meat dishes such as roast duck, roast chicken, pork and soft cheeses or goat cheeses ... (the producers suggest probably not blue- one of our sweet whites would be better with that). And of course, will also easily accompany more simpler dishes like pizza and/or most barbecued foods
This wine has lovely fruit weight and smooth tannins and is incredible value given the stratospheric prices of its prestigious neighbour.
Single bottles, multiple bottles or complete boxes (12 bottles) may be ordered.
