Domaine de Canterelle
Although it is one of the biggest producers in the region, Domaine de Cantarelle makes authentic wines and is a family-controlled estate. Elodie Dieudonné the owner and winemaker, grew up in the region. She received her passion for wine-making from her father Claude who was a local pioneer of wine production. Her love of the terroir and her wine-making abilities has led to her having a growing reputation amongst wine professionals in France and overseas.
Situated at 310 metres above sea level near Verdon National Park and close to Aix-en-Provence, Domaine Cantarelle is 130 hectares in size and has an exceptional soil/terroir.
Traditional Provençal varieties are grown including Syrah (Shiraz), Grenache, Cabernet, Mouvedre, Rollie (Vermentino), and Clairette under the appellation of Coteaux Varois en Provence. As well Pinot Noir, Merlot and Picpoul are grown.
The altitude and the sunny climate allows the grapes to develop ripe fruit characteristics but conserve freshness and good acid levels, ideal for the production of rosé.
30 hectares are committed to organic production.
It is a pleasure for DiscoverVin to bring Elodie's rosé to Australia for the first time.
