Chateau Peygueraud

Cotes de Francs is on of the "rising stars" of the Bordeaux appelations according to Bordeaux expert Oz Clarke. Chateau Peygueraud is the leading producer of the appellation producing stunning merlot based red wines.

Grapes have been grown here since the time of the romans. For millenia this has been considered a premium site for growing wine grapes. Since 1855 the left bank appellations of the medoc have taken the limelight. A new generation of university trained wine-makers, are taking the grapes form proven terroir such as this and using modern techniques to produce outstanding and value for money wines.

Chateau Peygeraud is owned by Nicolas Thienpont (known for his supreme work at Pavie Macquin, Larcie Ducasse, Beausejour Duffau Lagarosse…), he regular makes fairly powerful wines with wonderful breed and constitution.

Area : 35 Ha

Varities planted: Merlot 55%, Cabernet Franc 25%,Cabernet Sauvignon 15%, Malbec 5%

Density: 4500 vine/ha

Soil: Clay-limestone on limestone rock

Averag age of vines: 30 years

Sol management: Traditional light ploughing and aeration of the soil with inter-planting of cereals in winter.
